When I asked him why, he responded by saying, “People are afraid and they’re worried. They’re used to being comfortable and not aware that we were designed to struggle and overcome adversity. I believe what they’re (my constituents) lacking is faith. Even if God doesn’t exist, faith helps.”

That commentary on the state of our humanity didn’t surprise me. What did was the fact the he believed that he knew exactly what was causing the problem.

A lack of faith has us believing only in ourselves and in the power of other people. If I don’t have faith in myself, how could I possibly have faith in anyone else – especially an elected official?

When we’re filled with faith, we take on an entirely new perspective on life. Faith in ourselves has us knowing that we’re capable of miraculous acts and deeds on a daily basis with the power of the Spirit that resides within us.

Faith also gives us the confidence to know that there is a significantly stronger power at work in the world who truly sees the big picture and who is watching over us each and every second of the day. When we can’t figure out why things are happening or when things don’t appear to be going our way, faith is the foundation that props us up and keeps us on solid ground.

Faith reminds us that there is a greater power at work in the world who does see the big picture when you and I can only see a tiny fragment of the truth.

Faith gives us the wisdom to understand that we don’t need to worry about where our food, drink or work (or anything else) will come from.

Words such as these allow me to take a deep, cleansing breath and relax whenever I’m feeling a little anxious:

“You are such worriers. You worry about what you are going to eat and what you are going to wear. There is more to life than food and clothes. Look at the birds flying overhead. God takes care of them and he cares much more about you. Look around you. See how God dresses the wild flowers. Not even famous King Solomon had clothes as beautiful as theirs. So don’t spend your life worrying. Do what God wants and he will give you all you need. You can trust him.”

Do you believe those words? Would you like to?

Our thoughts dictate the direction that our lives take on a daily basis.. Replace the anxiety and worry in your mind with the promises which faith will deliver.

A healthy body requires daily exercise.

A healthy mind is the result of being mindful at all times to keep each of our thoughts positive. We’re constructing our self-image with every one of our thoughts.

A healthy soul requires daily nurturing too. Prayer, meditation and inspired reading are a few of the ways to ensure that your soul is nourished and that you’re leading a life of faith, hope and love at all times.

I was recently asked to be a guest on my childhood friend Rich Hancock’s radio show. During the interview, I was asked a seemingly simple question: Why do you read the Bible and study other faiths?
My seemingly simple answer: I don’t know what I don’t know! But there’s so much more to it:
Although I’m reading at least [...]
